Tax Deadline Further Extended for CA Storm Victims

Just when you thought it was safe to file your tax returns…

What Did the IRS Do?

On Monday, October 16th, what was supposed to be the extended tax filing and payment deadline, the IRS issued a statement further extending the time to file and pay to November 16th  for taxpayers in designated disaster areas in California. The deadline had previously been extended to October 16th in response to the catastrophic storms that had affected numerous areas in California.

What About the FTB?

The FTB has followed suit, automatically extending time to file and pay for taxpayers in those designated areas to November 16th.

What Should Taxpayers Do?

This additional extension is automatically applied to taxpayers in impacted areas, so these taxpayers need not contact either the IRS or FTB.
