Our History

Since 1951, Petrinovich Pugh & Company continues to make its mark on the history of Silicon Valley business. Most recently, we were proud to have Marc Parkinson, PP&Co’s managing partner named “California’s Leader” as he assumed the role of Chairman of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. This high accolade is a testament to the firm’s respect and reputation for excellence by the tax and accounting industry. Read below about other key milestones in our company history.

2007  InPursuit Solutions becomes a Microsoft Certified Partner.
The 4th Annual Financial Forum features renowned economist Dr. Chris Thornberg.
 
2006

PP&Co. Golf Practice attends the Clubs Manager’s Association of America Tradeshow.

Marc Parkinson, PP&Co Managing Partner, was elected Chairman of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (CalCPA).

 
2005 Paul Pugh retires from the firm.
The firm has always been committed to downtown San Jose. In looking back at the old addresses, the firm always has maintained a downtown address, never moving further than one mile from its original location.
PP&Co. hosts its 1st Annual Financial Forum.
 
1998 The firm moved back to 333 W. Santa Clara Street (now known as the CoMerica Building) where it still resides today. The firm now has seven partners, one Director and 36 staff.
 
1993 Gary Jones left the firm and the name was changed to Petrinovich Pugh & Company and has remained so ever since.
 
1988 The firm moved to the River Park Tower at 333 W. San Carlos Street. The staff grew to about 20 total people.
 
1983 The firm moved to 333 W. Santa Clara Street, San Jose.
 
1973 Adele relocated to Southern California and Gary Jones was promoted to partner. From 1976 to 1993 the firm was called Petrinovich Pugh & Jones.

 
1970 Jim partnered with his friend Paul Pugh, who had been with Deloitte, Haskins and Sells for six years. From 1970 to 1976 the firm name was Petrinovich Pugh & Duranso and was located downtown in Park Center Plaza and consisted of three partners, one staff, two para- professionals & two administrative assistants.

 
1960's Jim teamed with the first female partner to be admitted to a CPA firm in San Jose, Adele Duranso. The firm Petrinovich and Duranso was formed and remained in downtown San Jose.

 
1951 Jim Petrinovich set up practice in downtown San Jose on First Street.

We’ve been in Silicon Valley for over half a century, and have become a part of its uniqueness. We understand its culture, business, the people and most importantly the way we live, work and play in the Valley. It’s in our DNA and we love it.
