 Donna Bumgarner elected treasurer of California Society of CPAs December 15, 2005 Manager Donna Bumgarner has been elected treasurer of the San Jose Chapter of the California Society of CPAs. Donna already serves on the chapter's Board. A trophy for Dave Doolin and Scott Waters November, 2005 The Petrinovich Pugh & Company golf trophy now displays the names of Partner Dave Doolin and his teammates Scott Watters, Rita Kuo, and Lana Orozco as they won the firm's tournament this year. We greatly appreciate your taking the time to spend an evening with us, hope you enjoyed yourself, and hope you gained some valuable financial knowledge. Approximately 100 guests enjoyed cocktails and appetizers throughout the evening as experts in retirement planning, tax planning, life insurance, and investing gave presentations. PP&Co. Partner Buddy Goldstone moderated the event and raffled off iPod Shuffles throughout the evening. Jack Hillis of Hillis Financial Services kicked off the presentation by providing an overview or IRA rollovers and the four basic options available regarding managing the rollover of a retirement account. Hillis also provided advice on how to make the most of the retirement assets. Rich Baer of Legacy Capital Group explained the significant benefits of refinancing your life insurance policy. PP&Co Partner Tom Wagstaff provided an overview of pertinent changes to tax laws, and advised guests on planning for the upcoming tax season. Sterling Moore of Van Kampen Investments gave an intriguing review of historical events and their influence on investing. Heart Walk 2005 A team of walkers from Petrinovich Pugh & Company participated in the American Heart Association's 2005 Heart Walk September 2005. With help from the Firm's new matching funds program, the team raised a significant contribution to help fund the fight against heart disease and stroke. The benefits of a paperless strategy explained in webinar September 22, 2005 Partner John Kawamoto spoke about implementing a paperless strategy during a webinar sponsored by Accounting Today Magazine September 20. John explained the benefits PP&Co enjoys as a paperless accounting firm to more than 400 people. Prestigious appointments bestowed on Marc Parkinson August 2005 In addition to being elected First Vice Chair of the California Society of CPAs, Marc G. Parkinson, Managing Partner of Petrinovich Pugh & Company, LLP, has been appointed to the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) council by the California Society. The California Society of CPAs has 28,143 members and 14 chapters. The AICPA has 328,000 members.
